HIKE to Lake Blanche Salt Lake City UTAH

We go to Salt Lake City almost every year to attend our business convention but we thought to ourselves that we should stay back and uncover its beauty! The view from the plane is so beautiful so we knew it would be a great place to explore.

Statistics of Lake Blanche

Time: 4.5 hours

Elevations: 2,700 gain/loss

Lake Blanche Trailhead: 6,200 ft

Difficulty: 7

What I thought was only supposed to be a 30  minute hike ended up being 4 hours!! Was not prepared at all! hehe my fiance only took 2 small bottles of Voss water and our left over trail mix we had
This hike was my hardest hike yet! It definitely tested my mindset to not give up even if my body was telling me to stop. While I was recovering from my thumb injury, I stopped playing basketball and yoga which were the only activities that were keeping me fit. So doing this hike, was probably even tougher because I had been inactive.
We did this hike with my cousins from Melbourne who just did the Mighty 5 hikes and so they probably found this a breeze! It felt like massive team work climbing up because you are only as fast as your slowest person cause we had to stick together. They were always encouraging me not to give up which really helped me!
I remember my sister saying to me “do you know what makes it easier for me to do the hike?”…..”it’s cause there are other people out there feeling worse pain than we are right now, those who are suffering more than us “ These words really stuck with me and changed my perspective through the hike.
As soon as we got to our destination, all the PAIN and struggle that i was feeling on the way up. All the burning in my thighs and calves went away. The view was just absolutely breath taking. I remember feeling so happy and I got another burst of energy.
As we rested there to take it all in and just chill out, my cousin’s wife put on miley Cyrus “it;s the climb” on and i remember just laying there listening to the lyrics and I cried! I was just in this peaceful head space and in place of serenity and just listening to the lyrics definitely resonated with me. I’m not sure, i think doing the actual hike, listening to lyrics and reflecting back on my journey so far and especially on the road to recovery all contributed. I felt at peace (which is something i’m definitely trying to work on).
I also realised that our body can survive without food during this strenuous activity. I seriously only had a handful of trail mix during the whole hike cause I wanted to share it with everyone. I remember only wanting water and trying to ration what we brought was definitely challenging but do-a-ble! we can seriously put our body through so much and it definitely is our mind that gives up first. I guess that’s why people always say that you just have to have a strong mindset and you can conquer so many things in life!
I’ll post the lyrics down below and you;ll probably understand why it was just a beautiful moment! haha (or i might jus the over dramatic lol)

“The Climb”- Miley Cyrus (lyrics from A-z Lyrics)

I can almost see it.
That dream I’m dreaming, but
There’s a voice inside my head saying
You’ll never reach it
Every step I’m takin’
Every move I make
Feels lost with no direction,
My faith is shakin’
But I, I gotta keep tryin’
Gotta keep my head held highThere’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waitin’ on the other side
It’s the climbThe struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down, but
No I’m not breaking
I may not know it, but
These are the moments that
I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep goin’,
And I, I gotta be strong
Just keep pushing on, ’cause
