Video: Recommended places to Eat in Seminyak, Canggu & UBUD Bali

When we go travelling, we love going to places that are already recommended by our friends but we also like to know the places where the locals recommend for us to go and where they like going too.  Just ask anyone who serves you where they recommend and what type of food it is. We got so many recommendations from our private driver, our restaurant servers/ waitresses and our villa manager. I wish we had more time in Bali just to eat.  Food is one of the best ways you can experience a culture and it’s the local places that I often enjoy the most.

Bali has an amazing range of restaurants and cafes from local warungs to hipsters cafes, health food restaurants to popular beach clubs, Bali will accommodate whatever mood you’re in.

We stayed at Kamil Villas which was a beautiful one bedroom private villa with it’s own private pool. It was such a great place to stay because you had your own private space, but you were approximately 250 metres away from the famous “EAT street” where there was so much variety to choose from

Recommended Places to Eat in Bali

Sisterfields Cafe

Address: Jl. Kayu Cendana No.7, Seminyak, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Sisterfields Cafe was recommended to us over and over again! After we went the first time, we understood why! Their food and quirky ambiance was nothing short of the hype. We loved it so much we ate their twice during our stay in Seminyak.

As you enter Sisterfields, you feel like you are not in Bali at all. The heat and the bustling streets all melt away. If you get homesick quite easily, Sisterfields is great as it does resemble the cafe culture in Sydney & Melbourne (but in my opinion, even better! ). I would assume anything you ordered from the menu would not disappoint as it all sounded delicious!

The dishes we ordered were great! The first time I went, I ordered the braised shortrib, brisket & black bean chilli and Matt had the Turkish Poached eggs. We loved the turkish poached egg so much we both ordered it the second time we went there (couldn’t resist).

If you LOVE truffle, be sure to order their polenta chips with their truffle aioli! It was heaven for your taste buds! I can’t even exaggerate how strong the truffle flavour was!

The Shady Shack

Address: Jl. Tanah Barak No.57, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351, Indonesia

WARNING: there are NO taxi drivers around this area and UBER drivers were very rare. Matt and I were so CLOSE to walking to the nearest town to try and get a taxi! We did the rookie mistake of getting a taxi driver to drop us off at the Shady shack without getting any details off him. We didn’t know this at the time, but Canggu rarely gets any public transport. The best way to get around here is by scooters, motorbikes, motor cycles or private drivers.

Main transportation around Canggu

The Shady shack does offer to call a taxi for you but for a set price ( I don’t remember how much it was but I remember it being so much more expensive than our fare getting to Canggu). We were just about to start walking when we got alerted that an Uber driver was close by. Thank GOODness because we were so far from Seminyak.

Despite the lack of transport around Canggu, it was WELL worth it! Just organise your transport to and from the cafe hahaha so you don’t have a panic attack like we did!

Indonesian food can get quite heavy if you eat it quite often especially as it’s mainly with rice, noodles and really thick sauces and so eating at the Shady Shack for lunch was so refreshing! Just to get a good fresh Vegetarian/vegan meal.  It was so light and fresh and we got our turmeric latte AND kombucha fix too.

As we arrived, the restaurant was SOO busy, every nook and cranny and any place you can fit a plate or two was being used! I kid you not, even couches with small tables were being used so that more people can be accommodated. I loved the fact that you were out and were amongst the luscious greenery.

Couch with a mini table to eat on- I told you they were tiny 😛

Definitely a place I’d visit again! Even if I’m not vegan or vegetarian, I still loved the food here!

Revolver Cafe

Address: Jl. Kayu Aya, Gang 51, Kuta Utara, Seminyak, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

The Revolver Cafe is a cute little cafe in an alleyway just along the main eat street and probably one of the BEST places Matt & I got our coffee fix from. The breakfast was typical cafe food e.g. scrambled eggs, fetta cheese, hash brown. A great little cafe if you’re missing food from the motherland.

If you want more places to eat in BALI, the video down below has more restaurants and cafes that Matt and I visited during our holiday
